“Gotland, Sweden - On an island in the sun”
Located in the south west, Gotland is the biggest island of Sweden. The island enjoys many more sunny days than average - in Sweden - thanks to the common configuration of clouds passing through south Sweden being West to East.
The loop along the island’s coast takes approximately 400 km and almost negligible elevation. You might have to cope with the wind instead, which can be strong in some of the more exposed areas by the coast.
The trip starts in Visby, the biggest city and capital of Gotland. We chose to ride a clockwise loop and our first destination was Farosund. Cycling along Gotland in the summer months you stumble upon a few super cool cafes and restaurants that only open during the summer season. First night in Farosund we pitched our tent and got some good sleep next to the sea.
